Discover your musical voice

At GGT we want to get to know you and your musical direction. Everyone is an individual with unique tastes and stylistic preferences. Through a process of conversation and informal assessment we aim to gain an understanding of your interests that will enable us to design a syllabus that will work for you. After all - if you are enjoying the music you are learning, you are more likely to quickly improve and achieve your goals. This consultation process will take a few weeks, after which, you will begin to work on repertoire and exercises at an appropriate level for your ability.

Lesson format

Typically each lesson is half an hour or an hour. Sessions will often start with some technique development - there are many different skills that need to come together, and breaking down each into manageable tasks is a great way to progress. In addition, the musical building blocks of melody and harmony are introduced in the form of scales, modes, chords and articulations. These elements are then put into practice by learning songs and pieces related to the genre you are working on. You may also be interested in learning to analyse and learn and compose solos, GGT will take guide you through each step.

Lessons cater for a wide age range and are adapted to younger students for both content and delivery.

Many students work towards an exam, however, this is not compulsory and we can talk through the options available.
